Linen Closet Makeover

Oh, yes, it’s that time of year–the Annual Linen Closet Digital Tour and Makeover!!! …That’s a thing, right? Tim asked me to check out the Linen Closet and “bring some order to it.” Before, while it was vaguely organized, it didn’t necessarily make sense, and the labels were difficult to read, and there weren’t enough […]

We Propose Some Changes

If you look at some of the interns’ Facebook pictures or are reading some of our posts you might think that its all fun and games here in California. What you might not know is that a crucial part of being an awesome intern is working on conceptual projects. Recently all four of the interns […]

Week In Review: First CoC Reunion

EDIT (6/27): I accidentally skipped the fact that Nelda and Carly also spent all week long teaching a class: the Junior/Senior High class! They did a great job and followed up their work by heading to the Junior High Camp in Camp Cromberg. -A ….yes, there are two CoC Reunions here. So I know that […]

Days off are legend…wait for it

(I hope you aren’t lactose intolerant)…dary. Occasionally, in transition from camp to camp, we have something epic. Something awesome(r than usual). Yes my friends, I’m talking about a day off! Crazy right? Who would unleash these savage interns into the wild?! In all seriousness, we’ve had some pretty epic evening/day off excursions since coming to […]

Guarding Lives

Babies and Banana Slugs

Last Saturday began our first camp: Sierra Pacific Mission Center Reunion. We had some new training in the dishroom and lifeguarded for the first time. In addition to those ventures, we were given the opportunity to pick up a few courses. Nelda, Carly, and Scott Giles taught the Junior High/Senior High class, while Brooke, Antonia, […]

Exercise? What is Exercise?

The mission statement of Happy Valley talks about the transformation that is meant to take place in the mind as well in the spirit while being surrounded by a beautiful environment. The interns have allowed this idea of transformation to influence our lifestyle while we live here for the next two months. In other words, […]

Carly Washes Dishes

This week is Reunion Week, so that means, we have a lot of people here all week. So to help out, one of the Intern jobs is to help out in the dish room. All week, one intern has been assigned to wash dishes from 7am to 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Today, it’s […]

Office Renovations Part 2

Also, today, the office renovations continued. I decided it was time. (Or that I had time, ha ha!) Anyway, Amanda, very kindly bought us corkboards, and Jeff bought us Expo Velcro Strips, so they were super easy to hang. So there’s one on the back wall, next to the tiny desk. And the other ones, […]

Office Renovations Part 1

We got new desks last week! Lisa and Nelda bought them, (at IKEA, I’m so jealous!), and then Nelda and Tyler assembled them for us. Also these delightful little chairs are also new! They look pretty cool and save a lot of space! Ta-Da!! Check out the office if you’re around for camp!  -Antonia
