With the coming of our very first camp this week, came the long awaited
opportunity to put our life guarding skills to use!!!  To give some background, the last week we were hard at work putting our brains and bodies to the test and seeing if we had what it took to be the ones they call lifeguards.  This took a lot of hard work both in and out of the pool.  We’d begin our mornings at 8:30am and would continue each day until 5:30pm doing a variety of swim tests, video watching, and hands on practice using each other and dummies as victims.

After hours of training, we were finally ready for our examinations which included a variety of given scenarios we had to respond to properly and a two-part written test, and the best part is we all passed!!! Wooooooo, we’re now officially certified lifeguards  🙂

This brings me back to the camp we have here.  Every day this week we’ve had three of us out there gettin our guard on from 2-5 and we now have swag so official with our brand new shirts AND rescue tubes that just came in the other day. (Thanks Tim!) We’re starting to get in the groove of what rotation and zone coverage feels comfortable and continuing to train almost every day to stay up on our skills.

Until next time,
