Senior High Camp utilizes Happy Valley’s high-ropes course on-site. Previously, Senior High Camp would go off-site to utilize other high-ropes courses before Happy Valley had a course of our own. One year Jerry (a Happy Valley Board member and Senior High Camp leader/staff member) asked Shaw (the main-man at APEX Adventures Team Building Programs) if it would be probable for a high-ropes course to be built with the Redwoods and trails at Happy Valley. He saw the potential for the course at Happy Valley and told Jerry Happy Valley was a great location for a high-ropes course, thus one was built! In our the first two weeks of the internship, us interns had the awesome opportunity to participate in the challenge course operations and facilitation training. During Senior High Camp, these skills were finally able to be put into action!

Karl, Kayla, Kyle, and Carly all helped Shaw and his crew with the course facilitation aspect of the high-ropes course.

Part of being a participant is belaying your fellow participants while they are on the ropes course.

This is one of the ladies who was in my cabin about to be harnessed into the belay-line to jump off of the leap of faith!
