Not too long ago I posted about conceptual project proposals that each of the interns submitted to be read by Tim as well as board members for Happy Valley. Well….TA DA! The tribe has spoken and we will be working on….wait for it….

MAPS AND SIGNAGE!!!!

Antonia is the one who proposed this project, and it was decided that this particular idea could be put into action during the next five weeks that are left of our internship. If you read my last post you know this project focuses on creating signs for the different buildings around Happy Valley and the trails, as well as updating the maps. During our meeting at the beginning of this week we discussed some things to focus on and set up time to meet every single day to work on the project.

Lynley was assigned as our first driver, (or prime minister as we now enjoy calling it). She found blueprints of the A-frame which will be updated in the weeks to come. Along with that she worked on creating a timeline from now until the end of our internship when we present our work to the board of directors at Happy Valley. Carly then took that information and put it into a Gantt chart to help organize our schedule for the dates that we wish to accomplish different tasks.

Antonia researched a fancy new GPS that we will now use to create an accurate digital map. It has been purchased and we will play with it…I mean use it professionally this coming week. Along with the GPS, Antonia found blueprints for a lot of different parts of the grounds which turned out to be rather interesting.

My work focused on gathering a master list of all of the different places that are going to need signs. On the list I wrote some ideas of where we could put them along with directional signs. Antonia then helped organize all of my notes into a chart, and now I’m working on editing some pictures I took of Happy Valley to include in the chart.

This is an example of my handywork. Note my superior talents using the good ol’ text box.

So far we’ve been moving along very quickly on all of our tasks, and even got ahead of our schedule this week, go us! During our meetings this week we’ve been updating each other on our individual tasks as well as writing our ideas and thoughts on this really cool paper that sticks to the walls, it’s practically magic.

More magic
More magic, oh and what our weeks looks like.

As we get closer to the date of the presentation, august third, we will be updating you more with the progress of our project. The interns are really excited to leave their mark on Happy Valley and really want to put their best effort into this project. We can’t wait to see how the next few weeks turn out!

Till next time,

Brooke 🙂
