Hello Blog Readers!

I am writing this on Wednesday the 17th of June and we are midway through our first and largest camp of the summer, the Community of Christ Reunion, with roughly 150 people! It has been really fun so far but it has been tough to adjust to having other people at Happy Valley. The interns have had the whole place to ourselves for the last 2 weeks and we have really gotten used to just being around each other and using the grounds how and when ever we want. Don’t get me wrong, it is amazing to be able to share this place and serve others but going through training all together has been so fun and we went from spending every minute together for 10 days to all being on different schedules with working at the pool, dish room, hospitality, and grounds.

One of my favorite things in life is spending time with a small group of people where we are all separated from our normal routines so that we can really learn and grow with each other and that is what we have experienced since we arrived on the grounds. We have been trained intensely in a short period of time in lifeguarding, (which includes First Aid, CPR and water rescue) facilitating high ropes, Myers Briggs personality traits, on top of all the info on working the different areas of the grounds and customer service. So through all of that we have really created some strong bonds among ourselves and so I would never say that I am sad to have other people on the grounds because it has been a great experience to be able to put all of our training into action and to share in the incredible community that is provided during reunion. But I must say it is different to go from a small tight knit group to a large group of people most of us were meeting for the first time.

That being said it has all been a wonderful adventure and I am very much looking forward to what the next few weeks has to offer.
