Senior High Camp at Happy Valley was a wonderful week! I had the unique opportunity to be a cabin counselor. I was anxious to a counselor for this age group, as I had only ever been a C.I.T. at for the Children’s Camp age group previously and didn’t know any of the campers. All my fears were put to rest as I had a wonderful and welcoming group of ladies in my cabin (Maya, Natasha, Brittaney, and Lillie).

The theme for the week was “The Courage to…”.Campers arrived on Sunday, the theme was “Courage”, and full of Ice-breakers. Monday’s theme was “The Courage to Know Yourself” and a challenge activity with this theme was lead by Tim, Karl, Kayla, and Kyle. Later, the camp showed courage and shared what things were keeping them from being whole. Tuesday’s theme was “The Courage to Know Others” and the camp participated in an affirmation activity. This particular activity involved each camper receiving a cloth with their name on it for everyone else to write words of affirmation that described the person.

On Wednesday, the camp had a service day. In the morning, the seniors went to the soup kitchen to serve. The rest of the camp participated in two projects to help Happy Valley.

This was one of the two service projects. The camp got rid of the weeds by the pool, shoveled, built a wall with bricks, and filled the area with gravel.
The other service project the senior high helped with at Happy Valley was cleaning the trails. Many of the trails were covered from overgrowth. The camp helped shovel, weed, and rake the trail clean.

Thursday’s theme was “The Courage to Journey Together”. On this day, the camp went off-sight to go Kayaking.  Friday’s theme was “The Courage to Be Loving”. On this day, the camp stayed on-sight and utilized the high-ropes course.

Late Friday evening/Early Saturday morning, the senior campers went and pulled a few senior pranks. One of the most impressive of the stunts was setting a table and chairs on the roof right outside of Carly's window.
