This week, I was fortunate enough to infiltrate Senior High Camp, helping two of my favorite people on the planet JOSH AND KATIE SHIPLEY (only caps are appropriate for my excitement!!!) with theme class. Cue joyous dance music!
I assisted with a few activities and meditations and did a few prep things, but mostly I spent time with some really impressive young adults (some of whom are coming to Graceland! WOOT).
We also had an informational Outreach International night(Josh is Brand Identity manager there…or something along those lines); I talked a bit about my last Winter Term with OI in Nicaragua, as well as “Little OI”, the Graceland club, and Josh talked about Big OI. We also OI dinners (“O.I.’ll see you at dinner”, as Josh cleverly coined them) to talk about Hunger Challenges and how OI can revamp them. Everyone who came had awesome ideas. Hopefully, we’ll see some of them develop soon!
We(the interns) also had a Graceland University informational night to give away T-shirts and information! Our good friend Clayton Troxell, aka the new Graybill Hall Director, assisted.
I was most impressed by the maturity of the campers. All of them were more than excited to share, do service work, and support each other. The staff tied the group together to form a wonderful spirit and community. I feel so blessed have been a part of it!
