Good Morning Readers,

Last night in our meeting with Lisa, we had an exchange of powers from Prime Minister Lynley to Sultan Carly Fries.  Our first gathering with new leadership was kept brief so that we may all continue the great work we’ve been doing leading up to crunch time, but here are some updates on some of the progress we’ve made:

Our dearest Lynley will be taking some time today to talk with Karen Ardito and try to gather some new  information on the history of Happy Valley and hopefully gather some stories to add to our historical signage list.  She’s also in the process of touching base with Adam to try and get some questions answered so we can make further progress with our trail maps.

The lovely Brooke is busy assisting Lynley with the maps and also waiting to make contact with Adam and see what the next steps are to add to the map.  She’s also going to be around taking some more pictures, as well as editing ones she has to help give visuals for future sign placement in the lodge to make them more accurate and thorough.

The magnificent Antonia continues to work hard on creating a new building map layout and relayed excellent news that the lodge map is on its final touches!!!

Finally, I have been busy organizing and formatting all the nature research I’ve been finding and creating a few more sign samples for our final presenation on August 3rd. Later this week I’ll get to go out and gps and mark points on the maps where the nature signs should be placed.

We’re getting down to the wire in these next few weeks and with that comes some new assignments.  In the next few days, I’ll be working to create an updated gantt chart so we can compare the timeline and steps we originally created, and what actually went down and what was left out.  We’ll all also be working on brainstorming a sequence for how we want to go about preparing for the final presentation, as well as how we overall want to format the presentation.

Until tomorrow my friends,

Sultan Carly

  1. I’m a camper from the early days (the 1st Children’s Camp was 1956 and segregated because ther wern’t enough cabins to all the kids at the same time) and worked on the trails from then on–even before the property expanded in 1964 and the lodge was built (I’m again one of the teenagers in that construction). I’m available for information evengings or I can come down to camp next week–just let me know.. Steve Buckley 510-656-3329 (res) 510-857-6727 (cell). TX

  2. Hey Steve,

If you have free time available when you feel like you could come down and just chat with us a little that would be fantastic! We’re eager to hear anything and everything we can about the trails here that might help better our project. If you’re unable to make it down that’s totally understandable, but if you feel like popping in to visit some time next week just shoot us an email and we can try to work something out. Thanks!
