If you look at some of the interns’ Facebook pictures or are reading some of our posts you might think that its all fun and games here in California. What you might not know is that a crucial part of being an awesome intern is working on conceptual projects. Recently all four of the interns submitted proposals for projects that we think will help improve different aspects of Happy Valley. Once Tim reads over our proposals one or two will be chosen and we will work as a team to see that project come alive.

Antonia’s proposal had to do with creating better maps and signage for Happy Valley. Currently the maps that are used are not very detailed, or well drafted. The buildings also lack signs which is unhelpful for people who have never been to Happy Valley before. Another part of the grounds are hiking trails which have many different paths that go into short cuts but they are not marked off so you know which way you are going.

Lynley’s proposal is focused on helping advertise the fundraising that goes on here at Happy Valley. As of right now there a few different ways to donate to Happy Valley but we want people to be aware and excited about them. Along with advertising current campaigns she wishes to target the youth and create different items to sell. Ways to sell products would be to create an online store, and have an on site store as well with shirts, wristbands, along with other goodies.

Carly’s proposal was aimed at evaluating the food service at Happy Valley. At Happy Valley there is a goal to be a more eco friendly and efficient facility. In relation to food service Carly wants to take a closer look at the way we order food and how we conduct inventory. The goal is to make sure we are ordering a proper amount of food for each group.

My proposal was for a new program that I want to create for young adults. The Community of Christ holds age specific camps from eight years old to about seventeen. I wish to be able to help set in motion a camp for young adults at Happy Valley which has a structure that encourages spiritual growth as we continue to age. The Community of Christ camping programs are a great support system as people continue to transform and adapt in their life.

These are just brief overviews of what each proposal is about. If you would like to learn more about our ideas feel free to leave us comments that each of the interns can address individually.

Just the gang working hard on all of our proposals. (The desks are super comfortable in case you were wondering.)
