Over the last few weeks, we’ve had some flexible time, so I have been fortunate to have many visitors and traveled a bit!
First, my parents came to visit. Dad was super jazzed about being at Happy Valley. He camped here in High School for two years of Senior High Camp and then later came back to work as a dishwasher. He exclaimed, “MAN! I love this place!” over and over. My mom has also visited as a member of the Graceland Ramblers. Dad was really excited about the new property.

After a delightful breakfast in town with Angie and Tim, we headed up CA Highway 1 which trails along the coast. It’s incredibly beautiful and I highly recommend it next time you make your way to Happy Valley.

We also toured San Francisco and met up with the other interns as well as Rick and Marla Faszholz in Berkeley. We had a final farewell dinner and hang out with Clayton before he headed back to the humid flat plains of Iowa. It’s okay though, we decided Cynthia, the cat, would replace him. Rick and Marla were WONDERFUL hosts and provided food, love, and entertainment beyond compare.

We were also joined by Hartsook consultant and all around awesome guy Matt Jones for a couple days. Matt came to work and hang out with us all for a couple days while he was on a cross-country motorcycle trip. We all learned a lot from him and enjoyed his company.
The most recent visitor to Happy Valley hails from the most fantastic land of Adelaide, Australia. My lovely Aus sister Mim Sarre visited for my birthday! Huzzah! We hit everything we possibly could in her few days here including the Boardwalk, thrifting, the beach, brunch on the bay, and my second birthday celebration at local restaurant chocolate. She loved the parallels between Happy Valley and her home campground, Tiona, located in Forster, Australia.

It was a blessing to have so many visitors and share a little part of my home with my friends and family. It’s always exciting to rediscover the magic of the places that are special to you!
